Molecular biology has revolutionized the healthcare system by providing rapid and timely diagnosis to ease the treatment modalities. The high-demand for molecular diagnosis is primarily driven by an increase in incidence of life-threatening diseases like cancer, infectious diseases, diabetes and neurological disorders. Molecular diagnostics is thus referred to as the detection of genomic variants, aiming to facilitate detection, diagnosis, sub classification, prognosis, and monitoring response to therapy.

Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi inaugurated the programme marking National Technology Day 2023 at Pragati Maidan in New Delhi on May 11, 2023. The programme also marked the commencement of the celebration of the 25th year of National Technology Day being held from the 11th-14th May. On this momentous occasion, the Prime Minister laid the foundation stone and dedicated to the nation multiple projects related to scientific and technological advancement in the country worth more than Rs 5,800 crore.

National Technology Day is celebrated every year on 11th May to commemorate the country's technological advancements. For this year, to mark this momentous occasion of 25th anniversary of these landmark events, Technology Development Board along with 12 Ministries/Departments viz.

The Technology Development Board today signed the second agreement under the initiative "Technology intervention towards ‘Garbage Free Cities’”. TDB signed an agreement with M/s Alchemy Recyclers Private Limited, Gujarat, for the development of an Integrated Plant for the Recovery of Precious Metals from E-waste, Jewellers Waste, and Automobile Catalyst Waste’. The board has agreed to provide a support of 1.14 Crores out of the total project cost of 1.90 crores.

In a nation where more than 85% of medical devices are imported, the push towards indigenously developed products has never been more critical. The Government of India, under its "Make in India" initiative and a renewed focus on digitization across all sectors, including healthcare, is driving a robust ecosystem for homegrown innovations.

The Technology Development Board today penned an agreement with Bangalore based M/s TIEA Connectors Private Limited under the initiative “Commercialization of Indigenous Technologies through Tech Start-ups”. The Board has pledged a support of Rs. 3.81 crore out of the total project cost of Rs. 8.19 crore for the project “Commercialization of micro-electronic harsh environment connectors and terminals”. The start-up has graduated from the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore incubator, the Society for Innovation and Development (SID-IISc).
