Technology Development Board (TDB), a statutory body of the Department of Science & Technology, Government of India and Bpifrance financement (hereafter referred as Bpifrance), a public investment bank, France have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to carry out activities related to the exchanging of best practices and the setting up of coordinated measures to foster technological exchanges and innovation, collaborations between companies, organizations and institutions of France and India.
Innovative technological solutions for agro-waste management and prevention of stubble burning The Delhi-NCR region has recently witnessed unprecedented levels of air pollution with the particulate matter exceeding hazardous limits (nearly 10 times of prescribed standards). The smoke from burning of crop stubble (amounting to approximately 32 million tonnes annually) accounts for about one-quarter of the most dangerous air pollution in the winter months. It is not only impacts the health of the people, leading to severe respiratory problems, but also damages soil quality. Sustainable long-term solutions are the need of the hour to combat this issue·that assumed alarming proportions.
Nano Science and Nano Technology
Nanotechnology is considered a progressive technology that can address concerns related to varied fields like Agriculture, Pollution, Energy, Environment and Health & Medicine. Many Government led initiatives have helped towards research and technology development in the field of nanoscience in India. However Industry participation is nascent but slowly emerging. There is a growing need for converting the bench research leads into commercially – viable products, matching with Indian requirements.
